Alumni Association Board of Directors
Joe Moro ’63 is a senior loan officer in residential lending with Bay State Savings Bank in Worcester, MA. He has served in this role for the past seven years. His lengthy career in the banking industry also includes wholesale, retail and construction lending.
An active volunteer within his community, Joe has served as an elected official in his hometown of Milford, MA. He chaired the Redevelopment Authority and developed the town’s first Master Plan. He has also volunteered with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and served as the president of the Worcester Executive Association, a community service organization dedicated to supporting veterans and children’s causes. In 2008, he was honored as Executive of the Year.
Joe graduated from UMass Amherst in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. While a student, he was a member and officer of the Theta Chi fraternity and a member of the Maroon Key Honor Society. He earned three letters in varsity Lacrosse playing under Coach Dick Garber.
As an alumnus, Joe has served as an admission volunteer representing UMass Amherst at college fairs for high school students. He has also been the president of the Worcester Alumni Club for the past several years.
Joe is an elected member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, serving on the Clubs and Volunteer Advocacy and Public Affairs Committees. Through his continued financial support of the Alumni Association, he has proudly achieved the Life Member status.
