Alumni Association Board of Directors
Petra von Ziegesar ’98 is a licensed New York attorney and associate at Faust Oppenheim LLP in New York City. She advises broker-dealers, investment advisors, hedge fund managers and investors on complex regulatory and tax issues pertaining to financial products and services, as well as representing them in arbitration or litigation.
Petra graduated from UMass Amherst in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She was a reporter and staff writer for the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza in Incline Village, Nevada and then earned her juris doctorate from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law in 2002. She is an appointed member of the Board of Directors and serves on the Audit and Technology and Online Services Committees. She has been a member of the Alumni Association since 1999.
Petra also serves as the vice president of the Metro NY Alumni Club in which capacity she has helped to coordinate numerous alumni events, community service projects and to welcome new and prospective students to the UMass Amherst family. In addition, Petra serves on the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law Alumni Council as well as the University of Denver Alumni Association, New York Chapter Board. Petra has also recently volunteered with Green Light New Orleans.
